Time needed to make: 3-4 hours
Materials
・1 ball black yarn
TIP: you will not need the whole ball. This is a great project to use scraps.
・Small amount white wool roving
・10cm square pink wool felt
・10cm square black wool felt
・1.5cm wide x 11.5cm long orange wool felt
・Grey or black fishing line for the whiskers
・Black dimensional paint for the eyes. I am using Tonic Nuvo Crystal Drops in black.
TIP: if you cannot buy these easily, you can make the eyes with hot glue and paint them black with acrylic paint.

Making
How to make the pompoms

Open two arms of the 65mm pompom maker and wrap with black yarn. Cut the yarn.
Close the arms and open the remaining ones. Wrap these with yarn too. Cut the yarn.
Close the arms and use the scissors to cut the pompom using the groove as a guide.
"Tie the pompom off securely and remove it from the maker.
TIP: leave the yarn long when you have tied the pompom securely.
Make another pompom the same way using the smaller 45mm maker.
Use a darning needle and the long yarn ends to attach the smaller (head) pompom to the larger (body) pompom.
Trim the long yarn tails.
Making the muzzle and ears

Glue a pink ear centrally to a black piece.
Part the pompom yarn and glue an ear deep into the smaller pompom on both sides.
Use the needle felting tool and white wool roving to shape the muzzle into the correct shape.
TIP: there is a diagram on the template sheet to show you how big it should be and what shape is ideal.
There is also a small nose template. Cut this from pink felt and use the needle tool to attach it to the top of the muzzle.
Thread a needle with the fishing line and add three whiskers about 7cm long.
Glue the muzzle to the smaller pompom.

Glue the muzzle to the smaller pompom.
The tail, the bow tie and the eyes

Cut 14 pieces of black yarn 17cm long and felt the pieces together with the pen tool to make a tail.
Part the yarn on the larger pompom at the back and glue the tail deeply into the pompom.
Cut the orange felt strip into two pieces: 8.5cm and 3cm.
Make a bow from the two pieces. The 8.5cm piece is glued to make a loop.
Glue the smaller piece to make a loop and slide it over the larger piece.
Glue this bow to the front of the kitten just under the muzzle.
Use the dimensional paint to create eyes in the yarn above the muzzle.
TIP: carefully cut a small depression into the pompom for the eyes.
